Comprehensive Eye Examinations

An eye examination in our office involves careful assessment of your vision correction needs, focusing and eye alignment performance as well as evaluating the health of the eye.

Often patients come to us because they have difficulty seeing distance or near objects. After determining the prescription that best corrects your vision, our doctors will discuss with you options such as glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery which are best suited to meet the needs of your daily activities.

Problems with focusing and eye alignment are often overlooked as sources of headaches and eyestrain. This is especially true for those who do a great deal of computer and near work. A careful assessment of your focusing and eye alignment allows us to prescribe lenses which help you work more efficiently with fewer headaches and eyestrain.

Most importantly our doctors will assess your eye health. This includes looking for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and other potentially sight-stealing disorders. Many eye conditions do not effect your vision initially and can only be found with consistent eye health evaluation. Some systemic health problems like diabetes and hypertension as well as many medications can have effects on the eye which should be monitored to prevent sight-threatening complications.

If you would like to schedule an appointment call us at (614) 861-0950 or send e-mail to info@ecavision.com

Contact Lenses

Advancements in technology now make it possible for nearly anyone who wants to wear contact lenses to be successful. If you have thought that you could not wear contact lenses because of astigmatism, allergies, dry eyes or bifocals, our office welcomes the opportunity of helping you become a successful contact lens wearer.

Many patients are concerned about whether contact lenses will work for them and are afraid that they may invest a lot of money in lenses that do not work. Our Contact Lens Success Program insures that everyone who wishes can try contact lenses with a minimum risk and expense.

Our lenses are warranted so that if you decide not to stay with contact lenses or we cannot achieve satisfactory fit or vision, the lenses can be returned during the warranty period and you pay nothing for them. The warranty also allows us to make adjustments so that we achieve the best contact lens fit, vision, and eye health.

If you would like to be free from glasses for cosmetic reasons, to enjoy recreational activities, or simply for special occasions, call us at 861-0950 to schedule an appointment or send e-mail to contacts@ecavision.com and begin seeing clearly without glasses.

Our doctors will discuss with you whether or not you are a good candidate for laser vision correction as well as the possible risks and benefits involved. Most patients over 18 years of age, in good general health, and with no diseases such as cataracts or glaucoma are candidates. Laser vision correction can treat a very broad range of nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsigntedness. In most cases, even patients with the most severe degrees of nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness can be treated.

If you decide to have laser vision correction, our doctors work with the finest surgeons in central Ohio. Post-operative follow up visits are done in our office usually at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year after the procedure. Children's Vision and Vision Therapy

Your child's vision plays a critical role in his or her academic success. Our doctors and staff want to care for your child's vision. We can assess the vision and eye health needs of children as young as six months of age. We recommend a child's first visit take place from three to five years of age. After the initial visit we can determine how frequently your child should be seen to insure good vision and eye health.

We understand that a child's visit to the doctor can be frightening for both the parent and child. We strive to make sure your visit is enjoyable and informative. We will assess your child's vision status, eye health and eye teaming and focusing ability to make sure there are no barriers to your child's learning.

If your child requires glasses, we have a large selection of children's frames. All children's frames are covered by a minimum of one year warranty against breakage, with some children's frames guaranteed against breakage for life.

When a child has difficulty with eye teaming and focusing, he or she may have headaches or eyestrain which results in inability to perform necessary near work and poor school performance. Our Doctors provide visual perceptual evaluation and therapy to many children and adults who have eye related learning problems. Vision Therapy involves a combination of office visits and at home activities to allow your child's focusing and eye alignment systems to work more effectively. This helps to maximize your child's learning potential. Visual perceptual evaluation and therapy are often covered by major medical insurance plans.

Low Vision and Vision Rehabilitation

Diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetes and glaucoma can limit a person's vision resulting in an inability to read books, mail and newspapers, signing checks and perform other activities of daily living. This can lead to a loss of independence.

Dr. Baldwin uses high powered reading glasses, hand held magnifiers, telescopes, and closed circuit televisions to allow patients with low vision to read normal print. Non-optical aids such as large numbered watches and phones are also available to help with daily functioning.

Many patients qualify for financial assistance depending on their financial and living situation.
